| Had the Red Sox not made the Cleveland Indians look like Little Leaguers over the final 3 games of the ALCS, The Sports Guy would probably not have to deal with the shame that comes from being named D-bag of the week. This is semi-preemptive too, because if the Sox continue their run against the Rockies through the end of Roctober (had to omit the “k,” as the Rockies are in the process of trademarking that word; seriously, we can’t make this stuff up), you can rest assured that Simmons’ d-baggery will reach even more epic proportions.
We feel the time has come for someone to put their foot down on East-coast Sports Propaganda Network and that foot is us. As the most unapologetically biased member of the ESPN staff, we decided to give this award to Simmons, rather than label an entire TV network as a D-bag. In point of fact, his blatant homerism is almost admirable; at least he’s honest and upfront about it. But every evil corporate machine needs a face man, so The Sports Guy is being thrown under the bus. Furthermore, though we’ve not yet unearthed much supporting evidence, it’s been reported to us that Simmons has had a bit of a feud with fellow ESPN personality Colin Cowherd, who is a genius and a visionary. To learn more about why Bill Simmons is our D-Bag of the week, check out his ESPN Page 2 site. To learn more about Colin Cowherd, visit The Herd. |
