Rage in The Cage 10/15/07
The only column hot enough to make your mom sweat

Johnny "Wildfire" Rage
The column of greatness has returned with a whole slew of news and random goodness. So let’s not waste any more time finding out who Wildfire is burning for.

Unless you’ve been living in a hut in southern Franklin County, I’m sure you’ve heard that Randy Couture quit the UFC late last week due to a “lack of respect.”  I think Randy made the correct decision and it’s about time someone stood up to Dana White. I truly think that we will see “The Natural” back in the octagon sometime in the near future.
Word out of the IFL is that they are close to signing Kurt Angle to a deal.  It’s no secret that the IFL is hurting for money, but this doesn’t appear to be a safe move.  Angle is creeping up there in age and appears to have experimented with every steroid possible.  I don’t want to see an old man fight MMA. However, if Angle waves some minor sanitary violations (you know, on account of the bag), then I will take the fight!
Some recent changes have been announced to the UFC 78 card.  After Hector Lombard couldn’t get a work visa in the US due to “Ole Slippery” Fidel Castro’s iron grip, Karo “The Heat” (obvious gimmicky-nickname infringement there) Paryisan will take on Ryo Chonan.  Chonan’s former opponent, Thiago Alves, will battle Indiana’s own Chris Lytle.  I’m picking Paryisan by decision and Lytle by some crazy submission.
It looks like WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho will defend his title against Frank Trigg in December.  This could be a great fight but I believe Trigg is out of his league in this one.  Not only is Filho a stud in the Octagon but the Lumberjack Gear we wears to the ring is totally badass.
Former porn-star bodyguard and current Bas Rutten prodigy Kimbo Slice has signed a deal with EliteXC.  The company has also inked Nick Diaz to an extension of his current contract.
This just in: a breaking news story has reached the makeshift desk of yours truly. It appears that Forrest Griffin beat #1 World Ranked Shogun Rua with one arm.  Griffin was reportedly suffering from a very serious shoulder injury when he choked out Rua at UFC 76.  Forrest has recently gone under the knife and will look to return to the Octagon sometime later in ‘08.

I would also like to extend an invitation to all the readers out there to join “Wildfire” at the UFC 77 weigh-ins this Friday at 3pm EST.  Before that, however, fighters will be available for an autograph session.  Yours truly will be there taking pictures and getting the most up-to-date news on UFC 77.  If you see me around, don’t be shy.  Not only am I very photogenic (despite the bulge created by my bag), I might even teach you some Rex Kwon Do.  If you'd like to get in touch, hit me up with an
email.
