Rage In The Cage 8, The Ocho
Johnny "Wildfire" Rage
It's like the Colbert Report, only funny

Major shake-ups involving the UFC 79 Main Event, Ultimate Fight Night 12 news, Yushin Okami isn’t going
anywhere, MMAmania still sucks, and more. Lets find out who “Wildfire” is burning for.

Major changes involving the Main Event of UFC 79 Nemesis have occurred this past weekend. Matt Serra has an injured back and has pulled
out of the fight. Replacing him is Canadian hero and sweet breakdancer Georges St. Pierre. This will be the third matchup between Hughes and
Pierre, with both fighters holding victories over each other, and will be for the UFC Intern Welterweight Title. I personally think that this is a
risky fight for Pierre, as he took it on short notice; however, he has to be the favorite in this fight and I think he takes it late in the 3rd Round.
Hughes will obviously try to lay on Pierre much like he did Chris Lytle and hope that GSP makes a mistake that leads to another submission.

Recently, the UFC announced an amazing card for the UFN held on January 23. While they haven’t announced the Main Event, I’m guessing
that it will be Mike Swick vs. Josh Burkman. It will be Swick’s debut at 170 lbs. The card also features:
Patrick Cote vs. Drew McFedries

Thiago Tavares vs. Michihiro Omigawa
Kurt Pellegrino vs. Alberto Crane
Cole Miller vs. Jeremy Stephens
Matt Wiman vs. Justin Buccholz
Nate Diaz vs. Alvin Robinson

This should be a great night of fights and could be a contender for fight card of the year. Speaking of awards, such as Fight Card of the
Year. I’m proud to announce that Scrubsports.com will be awarding the 1st ever MMA Year End Awards on December 17th. You have two
options to have your voice be heard: you can e-mail me at wildfire@scrubsports.com or I will post a thread on the MMAplayground message
board and you can vote there. Please let your voice be heard!

In a previous column, I reported that Yushin Okami was off to K-1, but that appears to be just a smokescreen as he’s resigned with the
UFC. This is a good move for both parties as Okami should be in line for a title shot after the epic showdown between Anderson Silva and Dan
Henderson that will occur at UFC 82 in Columbus. I will try to be in attendance for the weigh-ins and the main show as I cheer on Silva to
another victory. Let’s hope for another showdown between myself and Drew Hall as well.

On the topic of Drew Hall, I haven’t heard from him, even though we sent him a turkey via UPS for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I’m hoping
that Drew’s family knew that the turkey was for eating and not for his strange uncle’s sexual predilections.
As usual, I will save my last paragraph for my newly-titled “Spreading Wildfire” rant. This week it again involves MMAmania.com and it’s total
lack of originality.  A few weeks back, our friends at 411mania.com posted an article on Wanderlei Silva as a way to inform some of the newer
fans of how great he is. Well, at the bottom, they included two commercials that Silva starred in while he was fighting for PRIDE over in Japan.
Both commercials were hilarious and featured Silva selling toilet paper and razors. Well, MMAmania claims that a reader named “Mario” found
this and sent it to them. I’m calling their bluff right now as they don’t have people named Mario reading their site. Their readers all have names
like Drew, Jethro, Bubba, Lou, and my favorite: DJ Pullout (I’m not making this up as he’s actually got a myspace page and appears to be a
total douche bag. Here’s the link, as he apparently steals music and claims it as his own. Notice why he goes to that website;
http://www.
myspace.com/djpullout)  As I’ve said before, if you want real MMA news, check out sites like MMAjunkie.com (they are our myspace friends and
report actual MMA news) and Sherdog.com (Great breakdowns of fights and awesome interviews with fighters).
