| Fedor is a free agent (sort of), Randy Couture is still complaining, thoughts on DREAM, Tito Ortiz, ESPN MMA Message Boards, Upcoming Madness of MMA events and a new format. Let’ s find out who “Wildfire” is burning for. Fedor is on the market and looking for…. A new company, morons. However, I’m sure that hundreds of thousands of PRIDE fans would love to have a date with him. Fedor is a Top 3 fighter in the world and let’s hope that he does the right thing and signs with the UFC and does this fight with Randy. Special News Report: Randy Couture is still whining Didn’t Randy talk lots of crap about Tito and his contract disputes back in the day? Didn’t Randy use to be about the love of the sport? He is coming off more and more like Latrell Sprewell circa 2005. Randy recently stated that he wouldn’t fight Fedor in the UFC even if Fedor signed with the UFC. Huh? This makes my head hurt and is making Randy look like an 8-year-old who took his kickball and went home. It wasn’t a DREAM, it was more like a nightmare. One great match up with numerous lopsided matchups doesn’t equal success, but the anti-UFC crowd sure loved it. DREAM hosted their first card this past weekend, which was highlighted by a showdown between Aoki and JZ in the 1st Round of the Lightweight Grand Prix. The match ended in controversy when JZ connected with one clean elbow strike and then two questionable ones to the neck of Aoki. Aoki fell to the ground and didn’t continue, thus ending the fight in a no contest. Confusion has now set in on who will advance into the 2nd Round and also whether Aoki was faking or not. It’s always a touchy subject when talking about these things because fighters usually don’t want the fight to end and you have to think that Aoki was truly hurt because he would’ve wanted the fight to continue. Also on the card was Cro Cop, who dominated his tomato can to a 1st Round KO, and “Mach” Sakurai, who got a nice can to fight as well. People often complain about the UFC and how Lesnar got a tough fight; well that tough fight is going to help Lesnar in the long run where Cro Cop isn’t getting any more respect than when he left the Octagon. You really mean to tell me that that performance and possibly another performance like it is going to help Cro Cop come back to the Octagon and beat Big Nog, Herring, Kongo, or Big Tim? Hell no it won’t and that’s the problem with most of these smaller overseas fighting companies. They sacrifice great match-ups just for having dominant wins. Did the UFC lose money or popularity as a company for Cro Cop losing? No, they actually gained a newer superstar in Kongo. What’s wrong with some competition for these “big” names? Why is Tito Ortiz dating Jenna Jameson? It’s not because of his grounding and pounding! It’s because Tito knows that Jenna’s love tunnel is the only one cavernous enough to birth his big-headed offspring. Yes, I said it, and it’s hilarious. Anyway, Tito is fighting Machida in May and it appears to be his last fight in the UFC. I personally believe that Tito will return because he put the UFC on his back during the dark days and carried it to what it is now. If Tito wins this fight, he should get a healthy contract because he would’ve done something that Rich Franklin, B.J. Penn, Soku, and Bonnar couldn’t. It should be an exciting night but I think that this fight is going to go the way of the decision, and possibly to Machida. It’s a ghost town full of morons That doesn’t make sense to you either? Well maybe you should hop on over to the ESPN MMA Message Boards and see the idiots in their environment. There’s a couple of guys who post on there who are complete morons. They constantly get in every post and hate everything to do with the UFC. Well, that’s something that is getting common everywhere now-a-days but these guys have no idea what MMA is or what it’s about. I’m issuing an open challenge to DanHendersonNation and Rightnow55 to air their side of the story. They can try to convince the millions of “Torches” that read this article that DREAM and M-1 are better than the UFC. Or, better yet, Righnow55 seems to think that the UFC is it’s own country, so he can debate the new country that has appeared on everyone’ s globes. The Madness Of MMA So as an IU fan, I need something to watch in March after the Hoosiers bow out in the 1st Round and I thank God for a huge selection of MMA. Starting March 26th we have the WEC show, followed by the Strikeforce/Elite XC show, then Ultimate Fight Night Live, followed by the debut of the newest season of The Ultimate Fighter and ending with UFC 83: Serra vs. St. Pierre 2. It’s a great time to be an MMA Fan and these shows totally prove it. I hope that my millions of “Torches” enjoyed the new format. The e-mail is wildfire@scrubsports.com if you’ve got anything to say.
