Ultimate Fight Night XIII take- a-ways, Ultimate Fight news, Fedor carrying the Olympic
Torch, M-1 gets a new “edgy” name, DREAM news, and a whole lot of sarcasm. Let’s find
out who “Wildfire” is burning for.
Take-A-Ways from Ultimate Fight Night XIII

Kenny Florian is a bad dude and is a legitimate threat to the 155lbs title. Karo
Parisyan is fat and has no grounds to be upset about that stoppage. He has
about as much of a leg to stand on as Heather Mills or Ron Santo (Go Reds!).
Same with Houston Alexander, as he was out and should drop to 185 pounds.
Anthony Johnson proved that he is worthy of a UFC contract. Gray Maynard
showed everyone that Frankie Edgar should move to the 145lbs WEC weight
class and proving that he is truly becoming the next great blanket in the world
of MMA.
Ultimate Fighter News

The newest season of The Ultimate Fighter debuted this past week and from
what I’ve seen, this will be one of the better seasons. I like the idea of getting
more fighters into the mix as this could allow someone that might have been
passed over a chance to earn the contract in the Octagon instead of getting in
via a videotape audition.

While I’m on the topic of the Ultimate Fighter, the finale will take place on June
21 and most of the main card fights have been announced. Here’s a look at the
card:
Diego Sanchez vs. Luigi Fioravanti
Dustin Hazelett vs. Josh Burkman
*Ultimate Fight Middleweight Finals*
Marvin Eastman vs. Drew McFedries

They finally have fire in Russia

What many people thought to be an urban legend, proved to be true last week:
they finally have fire in Russia!! I’m not sure what they eat in the Red Menace,
but it’s more than likely lots of soup judging by the lack of dental hygiene.
However, the man that brought fire to Russia was local superhero and MMA
legend Fedor. He had to call in more ties to the Yakuza but, as you can clearly
see in this video, they are celebrating the birth of the open flame in Russia.
Maybe Mountain Dew Will Sponsor Them

In a drastic move that no one really understands, M-1 Global recently
changed its name to Adrenaline. Yeah, it’s that exciting isn’t it? I’m sure that
the name change was something that Penguin-looking Monte Cox was or is
proud of because it sounds “edgy” and “hip”. It’s actually pretty lame and
this is what happens when you allow morons in your marketing office with no
background experience in MMA. Adrenaline recently signed Tim Sylvia and
Ben Rothwell, who, keep in mind, are represented by Penguin Cox and have
their first show June 14th in Chicago. The main event on the card is Jeff
Monson vs. Mike Russow and hopes of getting people in the stands for this
show have gone unanswered. No word on whether Limp Bizkit will play a
concert at this show because it would fit with the name and everything.
DREAM, it’s not just the name of a crappy girly band

DREAM returns to the ring April 29th with Middleweight Grand Prix
matchups and the JZ vs. Aoki rematch. While I usually hate on DREAM as
a company who features no-names against established fighters, this
card features, well….no-names against established fighters.  Apparently
the Japanese love these types of matchups and demand them
constantly. I personally don’t think that JZ should have to rematch Aoki
because he clearly beat him in their first match-up. Aoki has a history of
faking injuries if he is losing a fight and it’s clear that those elbows were
legal. Many former and current fighters have weighed in on it, none
more clearly than Bas Rutten.  While watching the video, he showed that
the elbows hit Aoki in the arm and shoulders, not in the neck like it was
claimed. So is anyone going to call Bas Rutten a liar? I doubt it.

That’s all that I’ve got for this week.  Thanks to my millions of “Torches”
that read this each week.
